Exchange rate volatility transmission in emerging markets

Exchange rate volatility, or a continuous fluctuation in the currency has been major concern recent years due to its impact on economic activities. No wonder concerns have raised regarding connection between exchange fluctuations and their effects overall economy. The motivation for study is based fact that most emerging economies experiencing inflationary tendencies are more likely experience high degree of volatility persistence. Such scenario seems catastrophic developing where large movement frequent. BEKK-GARCH DCC-GARCH models were utilized estimate transmission persistence respectively selected African countries. Results show there presence spill-over effect rates all estimates negative one country had deleterious another. We found evidence favour bidirectional amongst countries study.
